OSW Senior Specialist Transport & Installation

The Generation Engineering Offshore Wind (OSW) Group, within Engineering and Major Projects (EMP), is seeking an experienced Offshore Wind Transport & Installation Manager to provide strategic and technical leadership across ESB’s offshore wind portfolio. ## What you'll do lead the development of safe, executable and commercially optimised offshore construction solutions for major projects in Ireland and the UK. Key Responsibilities - Act as ESB’s senior authority for offshore wind transport and installation, setting portfolio-level strategy and assuring project T&I plans, installation concepts and key technical decisions. - Lead the development and implementation of project T&I strategies, including installation methodology, vessel and equipment selection, port and marshalling strategy, logistics, programme, cost and contracting approach. - Direct T&I engineering and interface management across foundations, turbines, cables, offshore substations, consenting, design, fabrication, procurement, construction and operations. - Lead the definition and procurement of major T&I scopes and contracts, including market engagement, tender documentation, technical evaluation, supplier selection, negotiations and management of specialist consultants and contractors. - Own campaign planning and technical assurance, including environmental and metocean criteria, operability limits, installation analyses, logistics modelling, marine assurance and construction-readiness reviews. - Identify, quantify and communicate critical T&I risks and opportunities, providing senior-level advice on safety, programme, cost, insurance, consenting, supply-chain and commercial implications and driving mitigation actions. - Build organizational capability by leading and mentoring T&I resources, maintaining strategic relationships with ports, vessel providers and contractors, sharing market intelligence and representing ESB at relevant industry forums. Experience and ## What you'll bring Essential - Level 8 degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification. - Typically 10 years or more relevant professional experience, including substantial offshore transport and installation experience and experience leading major work packages, teams or technical functions. - Deep understanding of offshore wind construction and logistics, including installation vessels, specialist equipment, ports, marshalling, offshore operations and weather-risk management. - Proven track record developing and delivering T&I strategies and installation campaigns for major offshore wind, oil and gas or marine infrastructure projects. - Strong experience in procurement and commercial management of high-value marine or installation contracts, including tendering, negotiation, cost development and contractor management. - Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary interfaces and communicate complex technical, safety, programme and commercial risks to project teams and senior decision-makers. - Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to travel internationally and hold a valid passport and driving licence. Desirable - Level 9 qualification in Engineering or a related discipline. - Chartered status with a recognised professional institution. - Project management qualification. - Experience across more than one major offshore wind package, such as foundations, turbines, cables or offshore substations, and experience of both fixed and floating offshore wind. Location This position will be based at an ESB Engineering & Major Projects office in Dublin or Cork, with regular travel to project, port, supplier, fabrication and offshore locations in Ireland, the UK and internationally as required. …
