Software Engineering Intern

Our engineering teams offer opportunities to work on a variety of impactful areas, including Android and iOS development, web front-end, back-end infrastructure, AI/machine learning models, cybersecurity and compliance, and more. You could contribute to designing user-friendly interfaces, building secure and scalable systems in AWS using Java or Kotlin, applying machine learning for security and analytics, or creating tools for large-scale data processing. You’ll collaborate with talented mentors and engineers, gain hands-on experience with technologies like Python, TensorFlow, Splunk, and big data tools, and help empower restaurants through innovative technology. Whether you’re passionate about front-end design, advanced AI models, or cloud security, Toast has a role for you.</p> <ul> <li>Work on a an engineering team responsible for entire modules of Toast’s products</li> <li>Build, and maintain high performance, flexible, and highly scalable web and mobile applications</li> <li>Participate in designing, estimating effort, implementing, testing, debugging, configuring, integrating and documenting database, middle-tier and front-end code</li> <li>Develop AI powered tools that save our customers time and deliver better hospitality to their guests,</li> <li>Diagnose performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations</li> <li>Think in terms of the end-user and design accordingly</li> <li>Actively contribute to product design and feature selection discussions</li> <li>Participate in code reviews to ensure technical implementations meet functional ## What you'll bring </li> <li>Build cutting edge tools for analytical data processing, explore the power of Toast data and build machine learning models</li> <li>Implement secure software development processes</li> <li>Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Currently enrolled in an academic program</li> <li>A passion for learning and a desire to understand what it takes to build software that empowers restaurants to thrive and do what they love</li> <li>Knowledge of at least one of the following:</li> <ul> <li>Java development</li> <li>Mobile software development (preferably with Android)</li> <li>SQL or NoSQL databases</li> <li>RESTful microservices</li> <li>Web front-end basics: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript</li> <li>Machine Learning and/or Generative AI development</li> </ul> </ul> <p style="line-height: 1;">#LI-DNI</p> <p style="line-height: 1;">#BI-DNI</p><div class="content-conclusion"><p><strong>How Toast Uses AI in its Hiring Process</strong></p> <p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">Throughout the hiring process, our goal is to get to know you.
